This event is designed to provide Governance Professionals and those persons with clerking/company secretary duties at academy trusts with comprehensive training, and it is an opportunity for delegates to benefit from each other, and to share your experiences and knowledge. The session is designed to be interactive.

This training is only aimed at persons employed by academy trusts and does not cover clerking duties or the role of company secretaries at other charitable companies.

The legal framework for an academy trust - encompassing a practical guide to an academy trust’s articles of association and relevant parts of company law
The role and responsibilities of a Company Secretary/Clerk to an academy trust
The roles of members and trustees
How to convene and support member and board meetings
Decision-making in meetings and by written resolution
Keeping the right paperwork – e.g. company registers and filing at Companies House

Danielle is an Associate in the Education Team and advises maintained schools and academy trusts on a broad range of issues, ranging from academy conversion and transfer projects through to operational issues such as admissions and parental complaints. As the team’s Professional Support Lawyer, Danielle is also responsible for maintaining the Education Team’s knowledge function.

Katherine re-joined the Education Team in September 2020 having previously worked for Stone King as a Paralegal from 2017 to 2019 before completing her training contract elsewhere.

Prior to working at Stone King, Katherine completed her Law degree at the University of Durham and obtained a distinction in her Masters (LLM) alongside completing the LPC.
